Our take

Very widely adopted and actively maintained (version 13.38.0, Apache-2.0, Node 20+), using lifecycle hooks, a local worker service, SQLite FTS5, and Chroma for hybrid search. The default installer prompts a browser sign-in for a hosted observer with a 30-day trial; pass an explicit --provider flag or set CLAUDE_MEM_ONLINE_OPTIN=false to skip it, or use your own OpenRouter, Gemini, or Anthropic plan. Note that npm install -g claude-mem installs only the SDK, so use npx claude-mem install or /plugin marketplace add thedotmack/claude-mem followed by /plugin install claude-mem.
