Best for
- Claude Code users who want shorter agent replies with code left verbatim
- Reducing input tokens from logs, JSON, CSV, YAML, and test output
- Routing asks between models and effort levels to lower cost
- Teams running multiple agents such as Codex, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode
Install
npx @caveman-ai/cli@latest
Our take
Version 4.0 bundles six parts (terse voice, input compression, Auto model routing, reusable scripts, waste fixes, compressed browsing), each switchable; the skill alone installs with `npx skills add JuliusBrussee/caveman -g` and a Claude Code plugin is also offered. The README publishes its own benchmarks with caveats, including that HTML has no compressor yet and the session benchmark used an older engine. Auto requires a free account, the CLI needs Node.js 22.13+, and shorter output saves nothing on per-request pricing.
